We've shared some big partnerships lately, but this one hits different.
Physios in Sport has been on our radar since we debuted our kinesiology tape at one of their conferences in 2012. We've always respected their work—which is exactly why we finally sat down to chat about joining forces.
Aspiring sports physios: this is one collab you'll want to follow. Trust us.
WHAT ARE PHYSIOS IN SPORT AND WHAT DO THEY DO?
The Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Sports and Exercise Medicine (ACPSEM for short) is all about backing physios who want to break into sports medicine.
They give their members the knowledge, skills and connections they need to level up in the industry. Thanks to them, physios nationwide have unlocked career paths they might never have found otherwise.
Behind the scenes? A team obsessed with delivering unrivalled education and advice. Speaking of which, let's talk about one of these dedicated people...
Who's Sian Knott?
Sian's CV reads like a sports physio's bucket list. She's had her hands in pretty much every sport going.
She's been at the coalface of sports injury management for years, including multiple Olympic and Commonwealth Games.
After 29 years with ACPSEM across various roles, she's now their Education Chair—and she's properly obsessed with professional development. We grabbed a coffee with Sian to chat about her journey and how our partnership is a win-win for everyone involved.
"WE'RE SEEING THE SKILLS WE'RE TEACHING BEING TRANSFERRED INTO SPORT DAILY!"
"We're really passionate about making sure that we've got the right structure in place for all these guys when they're coming through, so they've got the skillset to go out there and work and deliver quality stuff too," Sian told Kate-Anne.
PIS offers members exactly that—through online learning and hands-on practical education. And since they're completely volunteer-run, you know they're doing it for the right reasons. They're creating the opportunities they wish they'd had when they were coming up.
"I would encourage anybody that isn't already a member to look us up and see what we're all about and how we can help you further."
WHERE DOES SPORTTAPE COME INTO ALL THIS?
Here it is—we're pumped to announce that Physios in Sport have officially joined our mission to support one million athletes a week.
For the next year, they'll be running Taping and Strapping workshops at universities nationwide. This puts our products directly in the hands of upcoming physios while they learn from the absolute best in the business.
"Since attending our first conference in 2012, we have long aspired to partner with Physios in Sport. Working alongside them, we'll continue to push the boundaries of taping and provide unrivalled education and products!" says Kate-Anne.
What does this mean? We get to help shape the next wave of sports therapists. And PIS gets access to our resources to boost their taping training at courses and conferences. A perfect partnership for everyone involved.
We'd like to thank Sian for her time and for her really interesting insight into her work with Physios in Sport and her career in general. If you want to learn more about the work that they do, head over to their website now!
Also, if you have a question for either Sian or any of our in-house physios, feel free to drop us a message!
