HOW DOES KINESIOLOGY TAPE WORK?

In truth, no one conclusively knows how Kinesiology Tape works. However, we have our own theories based on the current research and anecdotal evidence from using Kinesiology Tape for over a decade.

REDUCES PRESSURE ON PAIN RECEPTORS

The recoil of Kinesiology Tape creates a lifting motion on the skin. This creates space between the top layer of the skin and underlying tissues. Reducing pressure on pain receptors and encouraging lymphatic flow.

INCREASE LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE

The lymphatic system is responsible for removing waste substances, excess fluids and cellular debris from the blood stream. The lifting action of Kinesiology Tape REDUCES COMPRESSION on the affected area. This allows fluids to move into the lymphatic vessels more easily.

REDUCES PAIN THROUGH SENSORY BOMBARDMENT

Kinesiology Tape can be used to target the neuromuscular system, providing muscles and areas of pain with a sensory bombardment that can help to reduce the feeling of pain.

In other words, Kinesiology Tape works by tricking the brain into forgetting about the area of pain, as it suddenly has to focus on lots of different sensory inputs.

IMPROVES MOVEMENT

There is also something to be said for the proprioceptive element of Kinesiology Taping. In clinical practice it has been shown that providing an area with a new sensory input (Kinesiology Taping) can lead to enhanced motor control, meaning movements can be performed more accurately.

HOW DO I CHOOSE THE RIGHT SHADE OF SKIN TONE KINESIOLOGY TAPE?

*We currently offer four shades: Beige, Light Brown, Brown, and Dark Brown. Choose the one closest to your skin tone for the most discreet look. If you're between shades, we recommend going slightly darker as it tends to blend better once applied.

Progress not perfection. We know we've still got a long way to go. In truth we chose these initial tones to match the needs of a gymnastics team that we support. However, we hope this is just the start and with your support we will soon be stocking more shades.

HOW LONG WILL KINESIOLOGY TAPE STAY ON?

Our Kinesiology Tape sticks for up to 5 days, even through showers and workouts. The premium adhesive is designed to last without irritating your skin. Just make sure you apply to clean, dry skin without lotions or oils for best results.

IS KINESIOLOGY TAPE WATERPROOF?

Yes! You can shower, swim, and sweat with confidence. The tape is designed to maintain adhesion when wet, though we recommend patting (not rubbing) it dry after exposure to water.

CAN KINESIOLOGY TAPE HELP WITH MY INJURY?

Kinesiology Tape can help support muscles and joints while reducing pain and swelling. It's great for common issues like knee pain, shoulder tension, and lower back discomfort. While it's not a replacement for proper medical care, many physios recommend it as part of a recovery plan.

WILL KINESIOLOGY TAPE RESTRICT MY MOVEMENT?

Not at all! Unlike rigid athletic tapes, Kinesiology Tape moves with you. It provides support without limiting your range of motion, so you can stay active while recovering. Think of it like a supportive friend rather than a restrictive brace.
