We're really excited to be able to partner with one of rugby's greatest underdogs.
Rugby isn't a sport that we'd imagine you would associate with Chile. You may not even have known that they had a team. But despite that, in 2022 their national team did the unthinkable and qualified for the World Cup for the very first time.
How did they do it? Allow us to tell you the story of how one of our latest taping partners proved that it's not over until it's over.
CHILE RUGBY'S JOUNREY TO THE MAIN STAGE
Since rugby was introduced to the country, the national team had spent a number of years failing to hit the mark and not living up to the high standards that the sport's biggest competitors had set.
It wasn't until 1995 that they had even attempted to qualify for rugby's largest tournament. And after several failed attempts, it was in 2022 that everything changed.
After dropping a first leg defeat to the US in the Americas 2 play-off, Chile needed to come back from their 22-21 aggregate score and pull off an unforgettable upset. That's exactly how the story went. A late penalty from Santiago Videla meant that they would be going to the Rugby World Cup for the first time in their history.
Perhaps the tournament itself didn't go the way that they planned, but the progression and the heart to reach the finals in Paris proved, what we at SPORTTAPE can't stress enough, hard work pays off...

We all love stories like that. When someone does something they aren't expected to do. Like so many businesses, we like to think of ourselves as the underdogs. Battling against all the other brands in the space.
And that's exactly why we wanted to partner with Chile Rugby and become their Official Tape Supplier for the World Cup last year. It seemed like the perfect mix.
The mighty Los Condores will be aiming to reach the next World Cup in Australia in 2027 and we'll be following the team closely to see if they can replicate the drama and sheer excitement that they gave everyone in the buildup to the last campaign.
