HOW DOES A SPORTTAPE DERMAL PAD DIFFER FROM TRADITIONAL DERMAL PADS?

Most dermal pads were designed for wound care and podiatry. They work fine for low-impact situations. But take them into contact sport and they hit their limits fast.

SPORTTAPE dermal pads are made with D3O® Solid™ technology, built specifically for sport. In independent testing, they absorbed 31% less peak impact force than standard silicone and gel dermal pads. And while standard pads couldn't be tested beyond 20 joules of impact, D3O® Solid™ was tested all the way to 30 joules. That's the equivalent of a house brick dropped from a metre.

The result is a pad that cushions harder hits, holds up through repeated contact, and gives players the confidence to get back into the game.

HOW LONG WILL A DERMAL PAD LAST?

With proper care, one pad should see you through a full season. That said, keep an eye on it. If it’s showing signs of wear — thinning, tearing or losing its shape — it’s time to replace it. Don’t push it past its best.

CAN I SHARE MY PAD WITH A TEAMMATE?

We’d recommend against it. These are intended for single-user use. If it does get shared, make sure it’s thoroughly cleaned with soap and a damp cloth before someone else wears it. Skin contact means hygiene matters.

HOW DO I CLEAN IT?

Wipe it down with soap and a damp cloth after every session. That’s it. Let it dry fully before putting it back in the bag.

HOW DO I APPLY IT?

The pad has no adhesive of its own. Place it directly against the skin over the area you want to cushion, then secure it with your fixation tape as normal. It sits flat and won’t bunch under tape.

CAN I WEAR IT DIRECTLY AGAINST MY SKIN?

Yes. It’s designed to sit skin-side, layered under tape. It’s latex-free and made to be comfortable against the skin for the full duration of your session.
